Description

This is part of a big auction of mainly Specialty Records 7" 45's. Specialty recorded many great artists in the blues, R&B & gospel genres among others. All of those will be represented. There will also be a nice selection of rare bonus listings.

Release: John Lee Hooker - Everybody's Blues / I'm Mad

Format: 45 rpm 7" single


Year: 1954


Notes: White & yellow label first pressing. Early single for Hooker and the only one he every released on Specialty. The label owner Art Rupe bought 34 JLH tracks in 1954 and issued this one single to see if they'd sell.  They did not and the other songs remained unissued until 1970.  Both of these tracks are classic blues with Hooker singing over simple guitar playing.  Absolutely great stuff.


Vinyl Condition: VG+, vinyl is in great shape with hardly any wear at all, just some light storage scuffs in the runout. Looks very clean and sounds great with no skips/ticks/bumps, plays with hardly any background noise at all.  Labels are nice with original gloss, no tearing/stickers. This is a gorgeous copy that you would have a real tough time upgrading.


Sleeve Condition: VG, Original outer sleeve has some light wrinkles and a small pencil number on the back, but no tears or splits. Nice shape overall. VG to VG+.
