Description

This is part of a big auction of mainly Specialty Records 7" 45's. Specialty recorded many great artists in the blues, R&B & gospel genres among others. All of those will be represented. There will also be a nice selection of rare bonus listings.

Release: Marvin & Johnny - Ding Dong Baby / Marvin Phillips - Mamo Mamo

Format: 45 rpm 7" single


Year: 1955


Notes: White & yellow label first pressing. Tough to find 7" pressing. This duo was Marvin Phillips with a rotating group of "Johnnys". The A-side this one is an odd track.  Kind of a chanting vocal over an almost Caribbean instrumentation.  Marvin Phillips' solo B-side is more of a straightforward R&B track. A really good one at that.


Vinyl Condition: VG+, vinyl is in great shape with hardly any wear at all. Looks very clean and sounds great with no skips/ticks/bumps, plays with hardly any background noise at all.  Labels are nice with original gloss, no tearing/stickers. There is some light scuffing. This is a nice copy overall.


Sleeve Condition: VG, original company sleeve has some wrinkles and stray pencil marks, but no tears or splits.
