This is Spike Jones and His City Slickers recording of "The Nutcracker Suite" on 78 RPM 3-disk Set on RCA Victor Records (P-143). The set was released in 1944.
Lindley Armstrong "Spike" Jones (December 14, 1911 – May 1, 1965) was an American musician and bandleader specializing in performing satirical arrangements of popular songs. Ballads and classical works receiving the Jones treatment would be punctuated with gunshots, whistles, cowbells, and outlandish vocals. From the early 1940s to the mid 1950s, his band recorded under the title Spike Jones and his City Slickers and toured the United States and Canada under the title The Musical Depreciation Revue.
In 1944 RCA Victor released his "Spike Jones presents for the Kiddies" version of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite, in three 10 inch vinyl 78 rpm records, P-143, arrangement credited to Joe "Country" Washburne with lyrics by Foster Carling.
Included is a newspaper article about Spike Jones running for Governor of Oregon against Earl Snell. Someone taped it inside the album (see photo)
