Spiral Vertigo Label 'Tudor Lodge' LP 1971 Cat No 6360 043 UK 1st Pressing + Bonus Photo's!
UK copy dating from 1971. In stereo and released on the hugely collectable 'Spiral Vertigo Label'. The catalogue number is 6360 043 1Y //1 and 2Y //1.
Condition
Vinyl :- Has had very little play but does have some scratches on the outer tracks of both sides which can be heard during play, and playback jumps once on side 2 track 2 but still not bad condition for an LP that is nearly 46 years old!
Labels :- Near mint condition with no marks or scuffs. There is no discernible spindle wear.
Spiral Inner Sleeve :- Near mint physical condition but does have age related foxing. There are no creases or rips at all.
Sleeve :- This is a six panel textured fold-out sleeve in excellent condition. No rips and comes with very few scuffs. There is very slight edge wear and expected fatigue marks where it has been opened and closed a few times. The plain side has browned slightly with age but has no scuffs or marks.
Whilst many collectors wish to add this very rare item to their collection because of it's famous label one must also recognise the talent of the artists too. They were joined on this album by Danny Thompson and Terry Cox of Pentangle fame and Sonny Condell from Tír na nÓg - an incredible Irish duo.
They played at the 7th Cambridge Folk Festival and the last Weeley Festival in 1971, The Troubadour and The Marquee Club in London, toured extensively in the UK appearing on the same bill as artists such as Joan Armatrading and Labi Siffre, and of course many folk clubs throughout the country, they also had a week's residency in Morocco! After Ann Steuart left the group late in 1971 Linda Peters joined them for a tour in the Netherlands.
Also included with this album is a photo of Tudor Lodge signing their contract with Philips Records on their Vertigo label. To the left of the picture standing is Brian Shepherd who at the time was a talent scout for the company - he saw Tudor Lodge playing at The Marquee and offered them a contract. Next to him is Karl Blore the group's manager, Lyndon Green is between Karl and John Stannard. Seated at the table with Ann is Olav Wyper who was the General Manger of Philips Records between 1969-1972. It was he that created and launched the Vertigo Label. The album was produced by Terry Brown and the amazing cover designed by Phil Duffy.
Also as an added bonus is a picture of a business card for Karl Blore Management - this illustration was also used in publicity posters.
