The Family That Plays Together is the second studio album by the American rock group. It was released on the Ode Records label in December 1968. The album’s title refers to the fact the band lived together in a house in Topanga Canyon, Ca. It also was inspired by the the stepson-stepfather relationship between guitarist Randy California and percussionist Ed Casady. The group expands on psychedelic rock and moves toward an early form of progressive rock. The album peaked at #22 on Billboard’s 200 Albums chart. The single “I Got A Line On You” p was asked at #25 on the Hot 100 Singles chart. Nice first press gatefold copy from ‘68 here.
