Description

Here is total classic and an essential part of any UK freakbeat/mod/soul/psych collection!

The Artwoods were one of those bands that seemed to be everywhere in the sixties, but amazingly never managed to score a hit single. That is certainly not a reflection on the quality of their recordings, which were always nothing less than amazing. I believe this single to be the last thing they released, although it came out under a pseudonym. This is a really great track. The song Brother can you spare a dime is a depression era classic, but the group certainly made it their own and updated it into an atmospheric soul/psych classic. The B-side, "al's Party" is also terrific, and both sides are full of great fuzz guitar!

Although it pains me to mention it (their music is achievement enough, in my opinion), it is probably worth noting that of the band, Keef Hartley went on to John Mayall, and solo infamy, Jon Lord went on to play with Deep Purple, and Art Wood was the elder brother of Ron Wood, of the Birds, Creation and Rolling Stones.

This is a great chance to get a nice copy of a hard to find classic single in nice vg+/ex- condition. Dn't miss out!!
