Description

Jazz Samba Encore ! is a Bossa Nova album by saxophonist Stan Getz and guitarist Luiz Bonfa. It was released on the Verve Records label in April 1963. It is Bossa in a slower groove and contains a mix of Jobim standards as well as originals from Bonfa. Performers also include Antonio Carlos Jobim and vocalist Maria Toledo (Bonfa’s wife). This is the second installment in Getz’s famous foray into Latin jazz. The follow-up to Jazz Samba which featured Getz and Charlie Byrd and predecessor to the vaunted Getz/Gilberto outing. This is truly a marvelous; exquisite offering from Getz and Bonfa. A touchstone of Samba Jazz with beautiful vocals on several tracks by Toledo. The genius of Getz and Bonfa on this record is revelatory. One of the smoothest breezy records you’ll ever hear. Excellent, pristine copy on first press gatefold from ‘63 here.
