Hello,
Here’s another in-demand Blue Note LP: Stanley Turrentine’s Up At Minton’s, Vol. 2, BN 4070, mono version and a 1st pressing. Extended versions of a slow blues, Come Rain or Come Shine, a wailing Love For Sale and a slow Summertime, all delivered with considerable whammy by the leader on tenor, never sounding better; Grant Green, guitar; Horace Parlan, piano; George Tucker, bass; and Al Harewood, drums. Rudy Van Gelder crisply captures both the sound of the band and the ambience of a live recording with subdued audience chatter. A really outstanding session sonically. This is a can’t-miss/doesn’t-miss session that fully captures the warmth and swagger of 1960s swinging, modern jazz.
The record has been cleaned on a VPI Record cleaner and is graded after being played and visually inspected as follows:
Vinyl:
There are some paper scuffs on both sides, storage marks; otherwise vinyl looks like new: bright, shiny.
Side 1: NM. Except for a very few moments of the lightest of crackle that even a brand new record will have, this plays perfectly.
Side 2: NM. Again, tiny bit of almost inaudible crackle at a few points; otherwise, no noise
Essentially a perfect record that the most discriminating listener will enjoy.
Jacket:
NM: Looks like Mint, with glossy cover showing no defects, back same. A-1.
Address is correct for a 1st pressing: 43 West 61st., New York 23, N.Y.
Labels: Both sides have a deep groove with labels that are bright and clean without marks. The printed address is the 47 West 63rd, NYC with along with Blue Note Records, Inc. name. There is a Plastylite ‘p’ or ‘ear’ in dead wax, along with Rudy Van Gelder’s stamped intitials.
Paper sleeve: Only thing about this record that not original. Belongs to Blue Notes 4117-4131.
