Description

Starcrost

US Fable Records ( F-301) recorded in Austin, TX 1975

Released in 1976

The cover is VG due to ring wear and creasing.

The disc is VG+ ..It has a few light scuffs . On play grading, I couldn't hear them at all. Track two, side 2 has a small area of light scratching that causes a few tics to be heard for about four revolutions. They are light and don't overpower the music (this is a hot recording). A few light hairlines are also visible under a strong light...they can't be heard either. No groove wear, and not pressed off center like a lot of private label pressings. The lp has a minor warp that should track fine on any table. It tracked fine on my table (Linn LP-12) with no audible artifacts. I also tried playing on a Technics SL 1800 with similar good results. A still sealed copy just opened would probably not play much better than this. The recording quality is outstanding ( especially the horns and Fender Rhodes) , this could be a TAS disc.

The music is tight , hot mid Seventies jazz/funk with killer female vocals. After listening to the whole lp, all the cuts were solid. I can see why this is in such high demand.

Thanks for looking
