Steppenwolf-Self Titled 1st LP-Ex Rare Mono Dunhill Records Rock LP

This is an excellent rare US mono copy of the first LP by Steppenwolf. released on the foil cover by Dunhill Records in 1968  This is very rare item with near mint stock copies having a book value of $150. This item is particularly rare because by 1968 record companies had all but phased out issuance of mono pressings. Moreover, the cover of this pressing does not include a hype banner for huge hit "Born To Be Wild.

 As to grading, I grade very conservatively following Goldmine Record grading standard. Except that for records that are a notch below near mint, rather than VG ++, I prefer to use grade of Excellent. I do not use VG++ grade in addition to Excellent grade as is done by some.

The LP is in excellent condition with only a few barely visible inaudible scuff/marks. The LP was tested through headphones after manual cleaning and plays very quietly. As the LP was tested several weeks before listing it should, of course, be cleaned again before play. The cover is in excellent condition. The corners on all sides except the top spine corner are very slightly worn. The top seam and bottom seams are strong with only minor  rub wear/loss of color on the bottom seam and no splits on either seam. The spine is strong as well with the product information clearly readable with slight rub wear. The front cover is still very nice with excellent color. There is slight bit of ring wear noticeable at top and bottom of the cover. There is a small cut out hole on near the bottom spine. The front and back cover are clean but there is slight wear visible on foil cover. 

The LP is being sold without reserve and payment is expected within 3 days of auction close. Return of the LP will only be accepted if the same LP sold and shipped is returned in the same condition .Buyers that behave in a less than ethical manner will be reported and blocked from participation in future auctions. The LP will be separated from the cover when shipped to prevent seam splitting.
