Description
Unreleased McCarthy album on Midnight Music "That's All Very Well But..."
Test pressing of the album Midnight Music was about to release when they went bust, therefore it was never released officially. Only very few test pressings have survived. This album is NOT the album that was released years later by Cherry Red, instead it features different tracks:
Side A:
- "Red Sleeping Beauty"
- "The Myth Of The North/South Divide"
- "The Funeral" *
- "This Nelson Rockefeller"
- "The Vision Of Peregrine Worsthorne" *
- "The Fall"
- "Should The Bible Be Banned ('7-inch' Version)"
Side B:
- "We Are All Bourgeois Now"
- "From The Damned"
- "You're Alive"
- "Keep An Open Mind Or Else (Acoustic Guitar Mix)"
- "The Enemy Is At Home"
- "Charles Windsor" *
- "Frans Hals" *
* John Peel/Janice Long BBC session recordings
The BBC Session for "The Vision Of Peregrine Worsthorne" remains unreleased. The Studio version for "The Myth Of The North/South Divide" comes from the "Lie To Me" compilation album. Several other tracks also have their origin from elusive releases and are not on the final release.
Of course Tim Gane of McCarthy later formed Stereolab and made history. This test pressing is in perfect condition and comes with the press release from Midnight Music about release dates, release formats, assigned catalogue numbers etc.
This release is very, very rare. I've never seen another one. Hence the starting price and the perhaps seemingly outrageous buy-it-now price.
