Record: MINT/UNPLAYED (maybe) BLUE VINYL TEST PRESSING. All Stereolab fans know this is one of the rarest singles in their canon, and has, I believe, only come up for sale once - about 2 years ago. I understand that someone at the pressing plant ran off a couple of test copies on light blue vinyl. Although I am normally reluctant to claim anything is mint, I am unable to find any marks. I have never played this record, but cannot guarantee it has never been played before I bought it. It has been stored in a clear, thick plastic sleeve since I bought it and stored in a high ‘quality flight’ case for additional protection. It has also been stored in a smoke free, animal free environment. Please be aware that this record does not come with a sleeve, as it was a test pressing, nor does the standard “Shimmies in Super 8” come as part of this sale – merely intended to help demonstrate the difference in colour.

Authenticity: I am the second owner. I bought it - shortly after the official release - from a chap (original owner) who said he was from the pressing plant.

 

History: “Shimmies in Super 8” is an extremely rare EP released in the UK in 1993 as a double pack. Its catalogue number is DS45 - 05/06. DS45 - 05 is a white vinyl 7", DS45 - 06 is a green vinyl. Both 7"s were housed in a folder cardboard sleeve in a plastic bag. Copies were numbered (800 copies), apart from the blue vinyl Test Pressing.
