You are bidding on an a strictly limited edition vinyl copy of the second installment of the Songs For Slim series, where artists pay tribute to Replacements guitarist Slim Dunlap by covering his songs. This split 7" 45 finds Steve Earle covering one of Slim's most-loved songs, "Times Like This," with an A-team of LA studio musicians. Craig Finn & Friends' version of "Isn't It?" features The Hold Steady's front-man making a great song come alive in a whole new way with a bevy of seasoned Minneapolis rockers. There are only 100 numbered copies being auctioned, and they include a digital download card for both songs and all proceeds go to to The Slim Dunlap Recovery Fund (Details below).

In February 2012, Replacements guitarist Slim Dunlap suffered a massive right brain stroke which hindered him paralyzed on his left side. After spending too much time in and out of hospitals, Slim has returned home and is around family and under the care of medical professionals. Though insurance took care of the hospitalization, it does not cover his extensive rehabilitation.
The Songs For Slim 45 series is a unique way to provide help for Slim and his family by having his friends and/or fans cover songs from his two acclaimed solo albums and having each pressed on a limited edition series of split 45s.
In late September, Paul Westerberg and Tommy Stinson reunited and entered Flowers Studio in Minneapolis (with Kevin Bowe on guitar and Peter Anderson on drums) to record Slim’s song “Busted Up.” Knocked out by the result, they roared through a few more numbers including Hank Williams’ “Lost Highway,” Gordon Lightfoot’s (by way of Nico) “I’m Not Saying,” and “Everything’s Coming Up Roses” from the Broadway show Gypsy. Original Replacements drummer, Chris Mars had already recorded a scorching one-man-band version of Slim’s “Radio Hook Word Hit,” so we combined all 5 tracks into an EP to launch the series. The 250 Replacements EPs grossed over $106,000 for the Dunlap family!
Chris Mars, an accomplished painter, is also providing cover art for all releases.
