Great vinyl condition of 7 albums (eight actual records, because ‘Face To Face’
is a double LP), by the beloved cult British singer songwriter Steve Harley and his
band Cockney Rebel.
Starting with their 1973 debut album in the era of the Glam Rock craze,
‘The Human Menagerie’ set the template for their eclectic pop rock sound
with classic Harley songs like ‘Hideaway’, ‘Death Trip’ and ‘Sebastian’.
The second LP is the 1974 ‘The Psychomodo’, this is an original copy that
has the rare special die-cut album jacket. This album was co-produced with
legendary record producer Alan Parsons and has nine terrific tracks that include
‘Sweet Dreams’, ‘Psychomodo’, ‘Cavaliers’ and the standard ‘Tumbling Down’.
The third LP was the bands breakthrough, the 1975 ‘The Best Years Of Our Lives’.
With nine amazing songs including their first huge hit ‘Make Me Smile (Come Up and See Me).
Some other songs are ‘The Mad, Mad Moonlight’ and ‘The Best Years Of Our Lives’.
The fourth LP is the 1976 ‘Timeless Flight’, (which, for what its worth, I think is a perfect album).
Eight amazing songs that really display Harley’s brilliant lyrics, with songs like
‘Red Is A Mean, Mean Colour’, ‘All Men Are Hungry’ and ‘Everything Changes’.
The fifth selection is the second LP released in 1976 ‘Love’s A Prima Donna’, with
twelve tracks that include ‘GI Valentine’, ‘(I Believe) Love Is A Prima Donna’ and his
cover version of George Harrison’s ‘Here Comes The Sun’.
The next album is the 1977 truly great double album ‘Face To Face: A Live Recording’,
with great live versions of 15 classic Harley songs and fun audience participation.
The last LP in this gold mine, is the 1978 ‘Hobo With A Grin’ Harley’s debut solo album.
Some of the nine songs include ‘Roll The Dice’, ‘Amerika The Brave’ and ‘Someone’s Coming’.
Truly a rare find of seven great 1970’s gems, with eight actual disks.
