A very nice original 1976 UK pressing of Stevie Wonder – Songs In The Key Of Life, issued by Motown as TMSP 6002 and retaining both of the important extras supplied with the original release: the four-track A Something’s Extra 7-inch EP and the original 24-page booklet.
The four LP sides carry early A-2 / A-1 / B-1 / B-1 matrices, each with the HTM inscription associated with EMI mastering engineer Harry T. Moss.
Released at the height of Stevie Wonder’s extraordinary 1970s creative period, Songs In The Key Of Life is an expansive double album spanning soul, funk, jazz and pop. It contains some of his most enduring recordings, including Sir Duke, I Wish, Isn’t She Lovely, Pastime Paradise, As and Another Star.
The original bonus EP adds a further four songs — Saturn, Ebony Eyes, All Day Sucker and Easy Goin’ Evening (My Mama’s Call) — while the substantial accompanying booklet completes the original album package.
A strong, complete UK collector’s copy.
Condition
Sleeve: VG+
The original gatefold sleeve remains in very good collector condition with general signs of previous storage and handling appropriate to its age.
The distinctive orange, red and yellow artwork remains bright and attractive, with the gatefold construction intact.
There is light edge, corner and surface wear consistent with the VG+ grade, but the overall presentation remains strong.
Vinyl: VG+
Both LPs retain a good glossy appearance with light evidence of previous handling and play.
Any visible marks are light and superficial and consistent with a carefully used vintage copy.
The early HTM matrix inscriptions remain clearly visible in the runouts.
Graded VG+.
Bonus 7" EP
The original A Something’s Extra four-track 7-inch EP is present.
This was supplied as an integral part of the original album package and is an important feature of a complete 1976 copy.
Original Booklet
The original 24-page booklet is also included, completing the principal components supplied with the album when new.
It contains the extensive credits, lyrics, artwork and information associated with the original release.
Please study all photographs carefully as they form part of the description and condition assessment.
