Description
Collector’s album – Stevie Wonder’s 1976 release of “Songs in the key of life”.
Issued on the Tamla Motown record label - catalogue number STML 60021
This is a double album which contains a separate 24 page lyrics booklet along with a footnote from Stevie Wonder and a full credit listing on the rear page of all musicians involved in its production. Remarkably it still holds the free complimentary EP that came in a limited format with the album and was not released commercially as a single:
1.Saturn/Ebony Eyes.
2.All day sucker/Easy going evening(my Mama's call)
This is a 33 rpm EP and is in good clean condition
Appraisal of the albums condition:
The gatefold opening sleeve:
Is in good condition for its age with only minimal sings of wear – in the form of minor creasing consistent with storage and handling over the years, certainly there are no scars ,marks or writing worthy of adverse criticism. The gatefold cover opens up correctly to present portraits of Stevie Wonder.(please see photos).
The inner sleeves:
Are the standard factory pressings and are presented in plain white format, again, they are in good condition.
The 24 page collectors booklet:
Is in good condition, clean and damage free.(please see photos).
The Vinyls:
All four sides present with a very good glossy sheene -
Side One:
A close examination under bright lighting shows one or two light surface marks that are of no concern to me,I have played this side and the audio reproduction is very good - one can though hear the odd crack and pop associated with dust and hard to detect surface marks - often presenting o quitter sections of music and on intro's /play - off's.There is no jumping or skipping etc on this side.
Side Two:
The condition and audio reproduction is as above - on Side one.
Side Three:
A close examination under brighter lighting conditions reveals one or two light surface marks and small surface scratches - nothing at all untoward, again, I have played this side and with the exception of a micro second skip at the onset of "Isn't she lovely the audio reproduction is good - as previously stated with sides one and two.The opening track is not at all spoilt and this occurred when played on my equipment and may well not on others.
Side Four:
A close examination under brighter lighting conditions reveals one or two very light surface marks and small surface scratches - nothing at all untoward, again, I have played this side and the audio reproduction is very good, no skipping, sticking or jumping, as previously mention, one can hear the occasional pop and crack on quitter sections of music in particular on intro's and play-off's.
