Description

This is a first pressing, record company promo copy of the 1978 single 'Alternative Ulster'  with '78rpm' by Stiff Little Fingers on Rough Trade - RT 004.
Please note that this is an early pressing with the labels mis-printed (please see images)
According to Discogs:
"1st Pressing with label credits reversed, 'Alternative Ulster' is wrongly credited as side B.

This is the only version where label text makes sense :
A - B side "Punk is dead but" - "We're still dying". Later pressings it's back to front. 

'78 rpm' was the intended A side, but 'Alternative Ulster' was promoted to A side after the promos had been sent out"
This is the promo copy as it has the above and it also has the original promo PR from Faulty Productions plugging the band, plus four pages of biog about Alternative TV, Deptford Fun City Records and reviews from the NME and others. There's also a promo sheet about Rough Trade.
The pic sleeve is in very good / excellent condition with no marks, folds or frays. There is, however, a '40' written in biro in the top RH front corner (it's not very big).
The vinyl I would be brave and grade as 'excellent condition' as I can see no marks or scratches and no spindle marks on the label. The matrix numbers are: Matrix / Runout: RT+004+B

All the paper letters and PR info are in excellent condition - folded as they were originally sent out.

Please note that I am not a dealer or a record collector. The items I am selling are all from the extensive collection of my late brother.

 

He was a great music enthusiast, working for both BBC and commercial radio stations in the East Midlands from 1980 until 2013 presenting various music shows, mostly folk and rock. 

 

He was also sent many promotional, DJ-only and white-label pressings direct from the record companies, such as this one. I guess this was just lying around the office / record library and he simply trousered it and stored it in his loft.

 

Sadly my brother passed away in November 2013, so I am slowly disposing of his extensive record collection. 

 

All vinyl will be sent in special secure mailers with stiffeners.
