Here's a review of this album, The Wanderers' 'Only Lovers Left Alive' on Polydor from 1981 (POLS 1028):
'This is a excellent album, own 4 hard copies if it. Every time I see one I get it. The story of how this LP came to be. Sham had just parted ways with Jimmy Pursey and wanted to carry on. They called Stiv in LA and asked if he wanted to be the new singer of Sham. He jumped at the chance and split LA for London. Jimmy got all pi**ed and threatened to Sue over the use of the name Sham at the time. So Stiv and Dave decided to change the name to the Wanderers. Musically its a natural follow up to Shams The Game album. Lyricly its most definitely Stiv 100%. Eventually they disbanded after 1 LP and 2 singles and a USA tour. Stiv then took Dave Treagunna with him and formed the Lords Of The New Church.' Whatever you think of this 12-track vinyl rock album with punk undertones, it is certainly loud, powerful, energetic, and really steams along with great power. It is also pretty difficult to track down these days - cheapest copy on offer at a well-known online seller is a cool 250 US dollars. Stiv Bators is a big deal in the rock/punk world and he performs vocal duties here, with Dave Parsons on guitar, adding vocals along with bass player, David Treganna. Rick Rock hammers his drums effectively. Their version of Dylan's 'Times They Are A Changin'' is something to behold, for sure! The disc is in Excellent condition - having never, as far as I am aware, been played. The vg cover has a few small creases on the left hand side of the front, and right hand of the back cover. There is a removable sticker denoting the shop where I snapped up this copy for ten bob back in the day, and then carefully stored it until now.......
