redgarnett Store ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This beautiful LP from La Voix de son Maitre (FALP 105, French pressing, red/silver semi-circle label – ED1, mono – no stereo edition exists) features Leopold Stokowski conducting His Symphony Orchestra in memorable accounts of Liszt’s Les Preludes and Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances (version with chorus).
Both were set down in the spacious acoustics of New York’s Manhattan Center, the former on 9 December 1947 and the latter on 8 February 1950. The Stokowski magic is very much in evidence here, both works boasting a evocative fantasy and rhapsodic power that is quite spell-binding. The sound is really quite amazing for its age, one hardly registeres that it is in mono.
There are fine liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket by Serge Berthoumieux. The striking cover illustration was executed by Pirol.
CONDITION:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is VERY GOOD. There is edgewear, more so at corners and at the spine, as well as light creasing and aging. However, there are no seamsplits, bends, or owners' markings and the jacket remains solid, bright, and highly attractive – overall, a very good collector's copy.
The condition of the LP itself is EXCELLENT. Though there is some occasional light surface noise, in general the playback is quite fine. However, those wanting a flawless or near-MINT copy are kindly advised to look elsewhere. Overall, this rates as an excellent collector's copy.

This LP has been carefully cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. All LPs are provided with a new Nagaoka (or Nagaoka-style) inner sleeve.
