Description
Here for auction is a vinyl copy of Stomu Yamash’ta’s extraordinary collaboration with experimental piano composer Masahiko Sato and Toshiyuki Miyama’s New Herd Orchestra – a veritable herd of wild jazz elephants. This is a second pressing from 1976, and comes from the collection of singer/author Julian Cope, who bought several copies of this record while writing his book Japrocksampler. This later pressing is cleaner that the 1971 edition, but still features several clicks per side. That said, this particular disc is far cleaner that Cope’s other examples. The record’s jacket remains in superb and clean condition, the spine straight and immaculate, the disc retains its original and highly attractive obi strip – though evincing some light folding where the obi’s ends are glued together. The inner sheet is also clean and untarnished.
