Description

The first recording (1950) of this controversial opera by Richard Strauss. This is the recording made by Christel Goltz following her stunning performance at the 1950 Munich Festival. The surfaces were never really that good on Oceanic pressings and this one has a pressing bubble right at the start of side 1. That's unfortunate but the rest of the set tracked very good with my Grado cartridge. The usual occasional clicks but no distortion. Washed on a VPI vacuum LP cleaning system.
Jacket spine has been taped. Booklet included.
