Up for auction is Stravinsky’s The Fire Bird (compete ballet) record that features Ernest Ansermet conducting L’Orchestre De La Suisse Romande.
This original recording by the Decca Record Co. Ldt London England is marked with “Full Frequency Stereophonic Sound,” “Recording First Published 1958” and “Made in England.”
The overall appearance of the front cover is good, but there are some creases and areas where the gloss surface is scuffed and has lost its’ shiny finish. There are no major tears or writing on the cover. The back cover has some creases, yellow discoloration and a few brown age spots in the bottom left corner. Also on the back is a small white sales sticker in the top right corner.
The inner sleeve is in good condition with the exception of slight yellow discoloration and a few creases. The vinyl itself appears dusty, and has a few light scratches on each side. I have NOT tried to clean the cover or the vinyl – I will leave that up to the winning bidder.
The record has a great sound with the exception of several “pops” and “crackle” sounds during the first couple minutes of play on each side. This could be caused by tiny particles of dust that are stuck in the grooves and could possibly improve with cleaning.
I have taken detailed pictures of the cover and vinyl to show the condition. Please email me with any questions or for additional pictures.
