Description

 Barbra Streisand and Elliot Gould met in 1962 while both starring on Broadway in the musical, I Can Get It For You Wholesale. They were married in 1963 and divorced in 1971. In 1964, Barbra had great success in Funny Girl and LIFE magazine did a cover story on her rising success and her marriage to her braodway star husband. By 1965 they were both starring on broadway in two different musicals. Her's the successful Funny Girl and his the short lived musical, Drat the Cat. James Brolin is an actor, who become famous for his role on the TV show, Marcus Welby, MD. from 1969 to 1976. He and Barbra married in July 1998. In 1974 he made this LP as a surprise to everyone...since he was not known as a singer.

1) LIFE MAGAZINE - May, 22, 1964 Issue  Cover features photo of Barbra Streisand with 7 page article on her early success as a raising new star of the broadway musical, Funny Girl and her marriage to another broadway star, Elliot Gould. CONDITION: Good with some wear to cover.

2) FUNNY GIRL (1964) - (Capitol - STAO2059) STILL SEALED  Original Broadway Cast Album of Musical Production based on the life of Fanny Brice.  Starring: Barbra Streisand, Sydney Chaplin, Danny Meehan, Kay Medford, Jean Stapleton.  Music: Jule Styne. Lyrics: Bob Merrill. Book: Isobel Lennart. Musical numbers staged by: Carol Haney.Directed by: Garson Kanin. CONDITION: Vinyl & Cover = Near Mint.

3) DRAT THE CAT! (1965) - (Blue Pear Records-(M) - BP 1005) -RARE Original Broadway Cast-Live Recording of Musical Production. Cast: Lesley Ann Warren, Elliott Gould, Jane Connell, Charles Durning, Lu Leonard, Leo Leonard. Boo & Lyrics: Ira Levin. Music: Milton Schafer. Direction & Choreography: Joe Layton. After 11 previews, the Broadway production opened on Oct. 10, 1965 at the Martin Beck Theatre, where it ran for only eight performances before closing. Long after the show closed, Blue Pear issued an original cast album from a recording surreptitiously made during a live performance. Gould's wife at the time, Barbra Streisand, had a hit with her recording of a gender-reversal version of one of the show's tunes: "He Touched Me," which went to number two on the Easy Listening chart. CONDITION: Vinyl & Cover = Excellent.
