in 1967, two years before writing/performing the soundtrack to Nerosubianco as member of UK Rock band 'Freedom', organist Mike Lease was engaged by british Library label Studio G to record some pop-oriented contemporary music for commercial purposes. the result was distributed as a promotional 5 track EP amongst the film industry including two mid-tempo Hammond Funk killers: 'Hi Bird' (recently used in an TV advert for Peugeot and also as main sample on Depth Charge's Harley Davidson) has an infectious organ-led melody with fantastic drums and deep bassline. 'Movin' is an equally funky Pop Beat instrumental led by very groovy guitar playing. In 1969 Studio G employed local UK groups 'Flashman' & 'This Side Up' for more recordings in the same style and the material was released on the legendary 'Beat Group' Library album one year later. Flashman's 'Find Time' and 'Hard Selling Woman' have a similar psychy beat as Lease's compositions with some incredibly powerful vocals added and were used in the American soft-porn flick 'Deadly Weapons'. more instrumental Mod Funk on 'Freaky', also noteworthy some very exciting guitar play on 'Lighter In Your Pocket' and 'Together In The Night'. a true DJ weapon and one of the best Library recordings that came out of Great Britain.
