Description
This copy of Styx's "The Grand Illusion" is a rare find. It is a sealed, new audiophile copy of the 1977 Styx album. During the late 1970s and 1980s, Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs licensed the audiophile rights to many original recordings to an ever more discerning audience of vinyl enthusiasts looking to own the best available audio recordings for their turntables. This particular release was marketed by Mobile Fidelity as an "Original Master Recording", "Half-Speed Mastered", "Super High Fidelity", "Limited Edition". According to the Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab website, this edition was remastered and manufactured for release in November 1980. It has been in the collection of one person since the early 1980s. The information on the album's back cover states that this edition is: "Imported Pressing and Plating", "Super High Definition Vinyl (extended life)", "Special Static Free - Dust Free Inner Sleeve", "Special Heavy Duty Protective Packaging", and "Source: The Original Master Tape." For those who are first discovering the brilliance of vinyl today, or for those who've never stopped their appreciation of a great vinyl recording, this pressing, from 35 years ago, is a sound investment. It will be packaged, shipped and insured at seller's expense within the United States. International shipping is available at purchaser's expense. Mobile Fidelity's selection number is MFSL 1-026 (there was no bar code). Please note: The country of origin is listed as the United States, as that was the location of Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs at the time of manufacture. The package (as indicated earlier) states that the pressing and plating were imported, presumably from Japan. However, the package has remained unopened and there is nothing on the exterior package to state categorically that the disc was manufactured in Japan.
