Description
Fellow audiophiles up for your consideration is an original 1970 pressing from Epic Records of the renowned rock and roll blues and Jazz fusion recording artist Don "Sugarcane" Harris. Know primarily for his violin and bluesy vocals he was also an accomplished keyboardist and guitarist. Among the many collaborations over his career were fellow musicians John Lee Hooker, Little Richard, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, Johnny Otis, John Mayall and numerous Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention efforts. Zappa actually helped revive his career by assisting his early release from the penitentiary. Considered by many as a violin virtuoso his eventual career choice of instrument was what he was mostly recognize for. The album "Sugarcane" was his debut solo effort and was produced by his longtime friend and collaborator Johnny Otis. The back cover art work is a really cool drawing by underground artist Richard Griffin (El Griffo) and was later used for the front cover of the re-issued cd. If you appreciate vintage vinyl this is a really nice specimen and will only increase in value as originals are long out of print and in my opinion the digitally sourced re-issues lack the dynamics and fidelity qualities of the original pressings. This album I Played one time to transfer to tape and is in quite remarkable condition, the vinyl is near mint but the outer jacket does show some shelf wear as would be expected for its age, only slight ring wear and a small nick to the top center of the jacket but no separation (see pictures). The inner sleeve is correct and has some slight separation but is still intact. If you have any questions I usually respond the same day. The record is part of my personal collection and has always been kept in a mostly dust free smoke free and climate controlled environment (not a warehouse).
