Sun Ra Nuits De La Fondation Maeght Vol. I. Recommended Records RR 11 UK 1st press Vinyl, LP, 45 RPM, Limited Edition, Reissue, released in 1981.
The vinyl appears to have been lightly played and is in great condition. It played through flawlessly on my stereo - no hop or stick. It is housed in its original silk-screened gatefold cover with glued in insert. Glossy black and gold screen print on silver coated white cardboard. Caused by the inaccuracy of the silkscreen printing method there are different degrees of how the golden paint covers the silver background. On the inner side it has pasted on silk screen printed inserts of red paper with golden print and blue paper with silver print. The sleeve is also in great condition, with no rips or writing. The spine is intact. Nuits de la Fondation Maeght is a live album by American composer, bandleader and keyboardist Sun Ra recorded in 1970 France and first released in two volumes on the Shandar label.
Allmusic awarded both albums 4½ stars stating "As a rule, free and avant-garde jazz are a decidedly acquired taste. However, for discerning palettes, these installments present the aggregate at their absolute pinnacle in terms of performance and inspiration" and noting the performances cover "a wide variety of styles and approaches, proving that the combo were far more multifaceted and involved than often given credit for".
