Sun records 78. Ray Harris Come On Little Mama
This auction features a mint minus 78RPM copy of what has to be just about the most raw, and primitive rockabilly ever to emerge from Sam Phillips Sun Studios in Memphis Tennessee. From 1956 here is Sun #254: Come On Little Mama b/w Where'd You Stay Last Night? This record was a total flop for Sun, and as a result is rare today, especially in this condition. I bought this years ago from John Tefteller, who got it from original Sun warehouse stock. If you collect the Sun label, or the rockabilly genre in general, your collection is not complete without this record. Unfortunately I'm not able to include sound with the ad. I wish I could get a better photo of the playing surface. No graying in the grooves! Full gloss! I played this one time to put on tape, using a Shure 2.5 mil stylus tracking at 3 grams. Look at the photos of those vibrant & perfect labels. The time I dubbed it to tape might have been the only time in 50+ years it ever had a stylus touch it. Please see photos.
