Hard-to-find Original U.K. 2000 Limited Edition (2000 copies) white vinyl Placid Casual pressing of the Super Furry Animals ‘mwng’ L.P. (Catalogue Reference: Placid Casual PLC03LP).  As noted above this is a lovely white vinyl copy and includes something akin to a tracing paper insert.  This is incredibly rare and such an attractive package.  I was never an SFA fan however, you’d got to admire the packaging concepts for so many SFA records (I think the ‘Out Spaced’ CD was the best with the rubber hood).  This is from my personal collection and I have never bothered playing it although it was purchased second-hand.  White vinyl is hard to grade even under an intense light however, it is clear that this has never seen heavy play.  The vinyl has always been (and is still) stored inside a polythene sleeve and this has really aided in its survival.  I have looked very hard under an intense light and a limited number of hairline scratches are visible but these are quite isolated and the bulk of the playing surface is mark-free.  I’m going to conservatively grade the vinyl as being in EXCELLENT condition.  Aside from a couple of spindle-drags on the labels (probably a result of likely the only time this was ever played) the labels are immaculate.  They are white and tend to show-up any grubbiness very easily but these are still the colour they’re meant to be.  The sleeve is still a really solid example.  Really the only flaws relate to the fact that it is cream/white in colour and it shows-up any marking whatsoever.  There are a number of grubby fingerprints which could most likely be removed with a rubber and perhaps a little staining.  I say ‘perhaps’ because I can’t make-up my mind?  The insert has a slight ripple-effect to it which would suggest it has got damp at some point but it is hard-to-tell whether the sleeve has the same problem?  What you can definitely say is that it isn’t obvious.  The two spine corners are as sharp as the day this was pressed however, the two opening edge corners have received light knocks.  There is a slight dig in the opening edge of the sleeve and a minimal suggestion of ring-wear near the top edge of the sleeve on both sides.  I wouldn’t say there are any major flaws and it looks good for its age (and considering it is a very unflattering colour).  The sleeve is graded as being in EXCELLENT condition.  As noted above this includes what I would describe as an insert made of tracing paper onto which a pretty psychedelic image has been printed.  Towards the bottom of the insert there is a slight ripple effect which suggests that it has got damp at some point.  It could also be a characteristic of the unusual material itself.  You’ll have to make your own mind-up?  It isn’t that obvious.  The vinyl has left a slight impression on the insert but there are no creases (aside from a tiny bend in the top right-hand corner which corresponds to the previously-noted knock that this corner of the sleeve has received).  The insert is also graded as being in EXCELLENT condition.

Final Remarks

A solid copy of a very rare item.  This is the only copy I have ever seen and as they only pressed 2000 it perhaps isn’t surprising.  Please check my other auctions for further Blues, Folk, Pop, R&B and Rock collectables in similarly immaculate condition.  Save me as a favourite seller as there is plenty more where this came from!

I have been a collector for in excess of 15 years now and regard myself as a conservative grader.  I know from experience that there is nothing worse than buying an item which is described with superlatives only for it to arrive and look like it has been scrapped along the floor (!).  As a rule I don’t submit anything to auction which I wouldn’t be happy receiving myself.  I endeavour to be accurate with my grading and all items are graded under an intense light.  Please take a look through my feedback as I’d like to think it speaks for itself. 

Returns Policy

If you are not entirely happy with your purchase then please contact me within 7 days of receipt.  The buyer is expected to meet the return postage costs.

Payment Methods

Domestic buyers can pay via Cheque, PayPal or Postal Order.  Overseas buyers are always welcome and are required to pay via PayPal.  Payment is expected within 7 days of auction end unless otherwise agreed.

Postage Costs

I have had to bring my service in-line with changes to Royal Mail Terms and Conditions effective of April 2013.  Previously items sent via standard post were automatically covered up to the value of £46.00 however, standard postage now only covers items up to the value of £20.00.  Items with an opening value >£20.00 will include domestic Signed For postage costs automatically.  Items with an opening value <=£20.00 and which complete with a value <=£20.00 will continue to be dispatched via standard post unless otherwise agreed (i.e. the buyer indicates a preference otherwise).  Items which have an opening value <=£20.00 but whose final value is >£20.00 will be subject to enhanced postage costs in order to cover the extra insurance which is required.  I hope this is as straightforward as I can make it?  Ultimately, please don’t make payment until you’ve received an invoice from me and if you aren’t happy with the invoice you receive then I’m always open to discussion.  Buyers should be aware that both Ebay and PayPal take a % of postage charges (i.e. they are higher than I’d ideally want them to be).

Multiple purchases will be subject to consolidated postage costs.  I will contact you at the end of the auction to confirm these costs.
