Super Rare Rod Mckuen LP Signed Ltd ED less than 100 pressed 1958 Lonely Summer. Condition is Used. Shipped with USPS Media Mail. Check photos...vinyl is in MINT condition, cover has some wear but it signed by Rod in 1958. This LP was #14 of the Ltd Ed. Maybe 100 according to Rod McKuen (see info below). This LP sold for $100 on eBay UNSIGNED and $200 at Popsike. Here is some provenance: An exchange between Jay and Rod McKuen
Rod McKuen, himself commented on the rarity of this LP when asked about it in 2000!
"Good Morning Rod, I was greeted with a package from my mailman when I got home today. Inside was MY copy of your album 'Lonely Summer'.
The record itself is in MINT condition. The front of the album cover is near mint and the back of the cover is in very good shape. Some of the text is a little light from the record ring wear.In the text they mention an album or book called 'Sounds on a Summer Night'. Is this a for real item or is it something you were working on? Did this turn out to be 'Songs for a Lazy Afternoon'? they also mentioned 'Time of Desire' as a 'book' ? Thanks. Jay
Dear Jay, You probably have the rarest of the rare. I doubt there were more than 100 copies of "Lonely Summer" ever pressed. Sounds on a Summer Night did indeed become "Songs for a Lazy Afternoon" and the book based on "Time of Desire" was never published, instead the poems were absorbed into other books, beginning with "Stanyan Street & Other Sorrows."
