Description
Here is a rare opportunity to own one of the greatest pressings of one of the finest sounding recordings of all time, cheap.
I am not going to sugar coat the description like some other sellers might do. This item does have some issues that might put some people off. If you are a stickler for perfection, then this is not for you. But, if you are new to the world of audiophile record collecting, or are an audiophile on a budget, this might be exactly what you are looking for!
First, there is no box. Second, the jacket is split on all three sides. Third, there is a scratch on side one, track one, (school) that is audible for the first 90 seconds or so.
There are also some very light hairlines on both sides of the vinyl, most of which are inaudible, but there are a few scattered ticks and pops, but still this album is very listenable and you will be amazed at the quality of this pressing.
Even with all the imperfections listed above, it is hard to beat these uhqr pressings for depth of soundstage and intricate details that modern pressings can not match. You must realize that these pressings were made from the original master tapes 33 years ago! (1981) No digital transfer here, heck digital did not even exist then. Even if you were to use the original tapes today to make a new piece of vinyl, that tape is now 40 years old. (1974) That is a long time and even tapes deteriorate over time, no matter how well preserved they may be.
I accept Paypal only. No returns accepted.
$4 shipping within USA. $25 shipping rest of world.
I just wanted to clarify that even though there is a scratch during the beginning of "School" there are no skips at all on either side. Each side plays all the way through.
Any ticks are heard only during quieter passages and in between tracks. On Aug-15-14 at 19:14:04 PDT, seller added the following information:One more thing to note,
I initially paid $277 for this record because the previous seller listed it as MINT! Needless to say I complained and he and I worked out a deal that we both could live with. It just goes to show that record grading is very subjective. Everyone seems to have a different opinion of what is good and/or not so good. Who knows, maybe you might think this record is mint as well...price rating
