Description

  • Hard to find 1963 monaural original LP “Surf War” (Shepherd SLP 1300) subtitled “The Battle Of The Surf Groups”.
  • It features twelve tracks of great 1960s surf music from The Impacts, Dave Myers And The Surftones, The Centurians, Jim Waller And The Deltas and Bob Vaught And The Renegaids.
  • The tracklist is: Exotic/Sanjuro/Surf Bird/Mile Zero/Bullwinkle/Steel Pier/The Wedge/Pipeline/Surf War/Ray Bay/Intoxica/Kon Tiki.
  • I was pleasantly surprised how well this plays in spite of some sleeve scuffs and other superficial marks. The playback is crisp and clear. You should expect surface noise but it is not overwhelming. Don’t get me wrong, this is far from perfect but it is one of those records that plays much better than it looks. The cover (cool surfing picture) is in excellent condition with just light wear and a couple of wrinkles on the front, some light aging on the back and some light wear on the bottom seam. There are no stains, tears or cutouts or writing.
