Description
A genuine UK 1st pressing of Syd Barrett's debut solo album The Madcap Laughs, on Harvest, produced by David Gilmour and Roger Waters.
Not a perfect copy but it has plenty going for it.
The laminated gatefold sleeve is in decent order with just some general creasing and corner wear, plus a 1.5cm tear at the opening edge back cover - it's a solid VG.
The vinyl has plenty of scuffs and hairlines but no scary scratches. It plays through with no jumping or sticking. Just some background surface noise that is mostly overshadowed by the music, apart from between tracks and on particularly quiet sections. I'd grade it Good+ to VG.
The yellow and green Harvest labels are in close to excellent condition - only knocked down to VG+ due to the remains of a price sticker on Side 1.
Matrices are A-2G B-2G and there is no EMI on either label. All the other first pressing indicators are in place.
I'm told by the record shop owner who bought his collection that this LP was owned by Steve Broughton of the Edgar Broughton Band, just as a point of interest.
Genuine UK 1st pressing with an interesting pedigree - perfectly playable and priced to sell.
