A formidable set of records, I dare say, this is the original Vanguard Gold-label release that captures every last ounce of one of the finest players of violin in the last century, Joseph Szigeti.
Produced through the Bach Guild, these are performances unmatched, Szigeti’s bold, eager, elastic playing as fine as Casals in the dance movements of the cello suites.
All six unaccompanied sonatas + partitas are here, pressed on stout platters that are spotless and ashine. Should play wonderfully well, near mint, perhaps better, here in a box without major fault.
One of the most acclaimed sets of Bach unaccompanied on records.
