Stunning example of this super rare first press !! Probably barely played! This 1st issue is complete with its original inner sleeve and fourfold poster. The poster is something special as it has been autographed, probably at the BBC studio in 1973 for a make-up lady called Julie. This album is from a collection I bought a few years ago and the owner related this to me.

Marc Bolan and T. Rex follow their historic LPs Electric Warrior and The Slider with this very underrated gem. Tanx is loaded with great songs. "Rapids", "Mister Mister", "Country Honey", "Electric Slim And The Factory Hen", "Born To Boogie", "Life Is Strange" and "The Street & Babe Shadow" are up there with T. Rex's finest moments. Tanx is a critical release by T. Rex filled with great mystical and glam rock.

Tanx is the last of the real fame time albums by T. Rex. It sounds more or less similar to Electric Warrior and The Slider, but in my opinion, it is better. It contains a great number of really good songs – namely "Tenement Lady", "Mister Mister", "Broken Hearted Blues", "Shock Rock", "Electric Slim and the Factory Hen" and "Highway Knees." A few other tracks are quite nice as well. I would rate the album a step higher, if it didn't contain such crap as "Mad Donna" at all.

What is this album (and most of the rest I have heard from T. Rex) about? Glamorous rock 'n' roll? Er, no. There is some pure rock on Tanx, but less than singles like "Children of the Revolution" and "20th Century Boy" might make you expect, and naturally you can't hear the glamour. To me, the essence of albums like Tanx is the relatively sophisticated, sometimes slightly psychedelic and sometimes folk-ish pop-rock. Listen to White Album, Barabajagal, Hunky Dory and then this. Vinyl: EX+.  I'm very happy to be able to present this  gem by the legendary T REX  in this wonderful condition. The vinyl has not any marks , not any hairlines and remarkably barely any retraction traces. The audio is simply sublime played on my Technics deck with Linn Sondek cartridge and through my Rotel amp and B&W speakers.   

   I played this through in full and thoroughly enjoyed it, indeed my most intensive listen for this week.. I was even tempted to keep this as it will be very hard to find this again, it is indeed mega rare now in this kind of condition. Needless to say NO jumps, clicks or ticks or anything untoward. This is one of the very best copies in existence and will be an object worthy of investment.

 Sleeve:  EX+.  Fantastic looked after matt single sleeve with beautiful rich colours and without any creasing, save from one miniscule edge crease to the top edge.  It sits superbly flat and has a sharp crisp opening. Beautiful sharp edges, the spine is fully legible and bold. The spine is also completely square as if just bought over the counter. A beautiful original sleeve and a fantastic upgrade condition. The winner will be very pleased indeed!!  No marks, no seam splits or tears.  This is an upgrade for most psych and prog collectors and probably the very best copy in existence. As such this is surely an investment grade copy!! The lettering is not only seen on the spine but also on the top edge with again no wear at all.

Poster: EX. The splendid poster is in itself a rarity. This one has not been hung at all and I am assuming it has set within the sleeve for all of its life. I suppose you would want to keep this gem in top condition. The poster is signed to the bottom right  by Marc Bolan, presumably at the studio in London before or after a recording for Top of the Pops. The poster is fully intact, without tears or splits.
