Description

I recently found a small stack of these Talk-O-Photo picture discs at an estate sale. They are mostly of Silent movie stars of the day. I believe they date to around 1920 and were made by the Talking Photo Corporation. The picture sides of each are pretty spiffy and very presentable. I cannot attest to how well some of these will play as I don't have the right player to try them on, so they are bring offered in as found condition some have scuffs , rubbing , and light cracks. But some are definitely better than others, please examine the photos. I can combine the shipping costs if you bid on more than just one.

The one being offered here is a Talk-O-Photo disc of FRANK TINNEY in the musical comedy success "Tickle Me"

Frank Aloysius Robert Tinney (March 29, 1878 – November 28, 1940) was an American blackface comedian and actor.

Tinney achieved considerable success in vaudeville and on Broadway in the early 20th century. Comedian Joe Cook considered Tinney, "the greatest natural comic ever developed in America."[1] Tinney's career and marriage were ruined after he was accused of beating his mistress, Ziegfeld girl Imogene "Bubbles" Wilson in May 1924. Although he was never formally charged, the ensuing publicity ruined his reputation.

Tinney suffered a number of health problems after the scandal and eventually had a nervous breakdown. He never regained his health and died in November 1940.

Tickle Me was a Broadway musical comedy in two acts with book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, Otto Harbach and Frank Mandel and music and musical direction provided by Herbert Stothart. Tickle Me was produced by Arthur Hammerstein and opened at the Selwyn Theater on August 17, 1920 and closed after 207 performances on February 12, 1921. The play then embarked on a successful road tour with a schedule that extending well into the spring of the following year.
