TAMPA JOE & MACON ED
OKeh 8676, 78rpm - Peg Leg Howell?
TAMPA JOE & MACON ED, OKeh 8676, 78rpm, “Wringing That Thing” b/w “Worrying Blues.” Condition VGVG+/VG+. Both sides feature MACON ED (EDDIE ANTHONY), violin and TAMPA JOE, guitar. Vocal duet on the A side, ED solo vocal on the B side. TAMPA JOE’s identity is uncertain but according to Dixon & Godrich is thought to be either PEG LEG HOWELL, JIM HILL or possibly HENRY WILLIMS.
CONDITION:
The record is visually graded as VG to VG+/VG+ condition with minor scuffs/scratches, vocals/music well above the background crackles. The record plays quite well, with no major flaws beyond those indicated and what the grade would indicate (standard Docks/JJJ grading used). Aural grade will of course vary depending upon the equipment it is played on. For comparison only, the record has been play-graded as VG+ on my 1950’s player, VGVG+ on my modern system.
Please be advised that the label scan -- while showing an approximately accurate picture, tends to show a somewhat degraded image of printed words, occasionally shifts colors and picks up glare, and usually gives an image which is at least a half grade or more below the actual quality. Still, the scan will give an over-all sense of the label’s condition.
