TANGERINE DREAM – Electronic Meditation OHR LP / OMM 556.004 (GERMANY, Stereo, 1970)
Here’s a very well looked after copy of the 1st TD long player, only initially available on import here in the UK. Both sleeve and vinyl here are in a really pleasing condition!
The outer-laminated gatefold sleeve is in a solid and true EX (Excellent) condition. Only one or two things to mention: a couple of really small holes on the leading edges (both front and on the gate/rear); beginnings of a tiny edge split (not actually split) on the rear panel top edge. (Very, very) light ring impression to the white rear face. Except for these, NOTHING really! NO big creases at all (either front or back), solid proud spine (slight compression, no splits), corners 99% sharp, sharp opening edges (no feathering). Looks brilliant and will be difficult to find much better. NO laminate lift, peel or cracking either.
The original OHR labels are fabulous. No writing, no stickers, no scrapes or rubbing. I cannot see any spindle evidence. This LP has hardly been played!
The medium weight vinyl has the following stamped numbers
28 0654 348 S1 / 28 0654 348 S2-2
And: ST-OMM 56004-A /B inscribed into the dead wax.
There is one very light scuff half way along Side 1 (no effect on the audio). Other than that the vinyl surfaces are pretty much unmarked. There’s NO scratches, hairlines, scrapes, embedded dirt or nasty dust pockets. Visually looks close to mint but I’ll grade EX+ (Excellent Plus). IT HAS BEEN CAREFULLY LISTENED TO and plays just fine. Very important to have excellent playback on an LP that has many quiet passages and apart from a couple of light ticks towards the end of Side 1 and similar sporadic light ticks on Side 2, there’s nothing there audibly. Hardly any surface static/noise at all and no snap, crackle, pops, hiss, distortion or loss of clarity. Play grade is up there with the visual one! Fantastic listen.
Summary: Great copy of this early OHR LP with super sleeve, near spotless vinyl and great play!

I do not use any more than ONE plus or minus between grades. After all, WHAT ON EARTH DOES VG+++++ MEAN? What is NM+? Or EX---? These are just some of the ridiculous gradings I’ve encountered on eBay. I am very careful using the EX (Excellent) grade. Excellent, by dictionary definition means‘extremely good’ NOT ‘marked and slightly beat up with wear’!
