DESCRIPTION

THIS LP IS FOR THE SERIOUS COLLECTOR !!

Presented for your consideration and bidding enjoyment is this beautiful pressing of one of the most cherished Direct To Disc jazz recordings available anywhere: "For Duke" by Bill Berry and His Ellington All-Stars. At the time of this recording, the band members, Bill Berry on cornet, Ray Brown on bass, Britt Woodman on trombone, Nat Pierce on piano, Frankie Capp on drums, Scott Hamilton on tenor sax, and Marshall Royal on alto sax were among the most talented and respected musicians of the era. It is no wonder that this magnificent album is rated by the highly respected TAS list as one of the "Best In The Bunch" in the "Popular" catagory. The record was pressed in West Germany on the M&K RealTime label, catalog number RT 101. The albums were distributed in the US by Miller & Kreisel Sound Corporation, located in Beverly Hills, California.

I hate surprises when I buy records online without being able to first inspect them, so I will try to accurately describe the condition of this item. I do not use letter grading (VG+, NM), or numerical scales (1-10), because these are totally subjective and open to individual interpretation. I have seen records graded as "Mint" that I would consider a "G-" at best. IMPORTANT NOTE: I HAVE BEEN REQUESTED BY SEVERAL COLLECTORS WHO CAN NOT UNDERSTAND ANYTHING EXCEPT A LETTER GRADE FOR CONDITION, IF I WOULD PLEASE GIVE A "BEST GUESS" APPROXIMATION IN ADDITION TO MY COMMENTARY. IN MY OPINION THE VINYL IS IN "NEAR MINT CONDITION...MEANING IT IS IN EXCEPTIONALLY NICE CONDITION AND WOULD BE CONSIDERED "FACTORY NEW" WERE IT NOT FOR INSIGNIFICANT SCRUFFS OR HAIRLINES, WHICH HAVE NO EFFECT ON THE PLAYING OF THE DISC".  For additional information, please read my comments below.

This LP has had the shrink wrap removed, a common practice with serious vinyl collectors ( This is done to prevent any warping of the jacket which may occur as the shrink wrap actually begins to shrink over time, tightening around the jacket, sometimes causing it to curl or warp). The cover has NO tears, NO rips, NO stickers, NO writing, NO "mystery" stains, and NO mildew. The cover retains its original colors, with NO FADING or discoloring. THIS IS NOT A CUT-OUT OR A CHEAP BOOTLEG. There are absolutely NO drill holes, NO cut off corners, and NO saw cut notches. The disc itself is one of the best I have seen. Both labels appear perfect, not even spindle tracks. The vinyl retains the factory high gloss sheen, with no evidence of excessive playing or abusive treatment. The only distractions I noticed (while inspecting the disc under illumination from TWO 100 watt bulbs), were small insignificant, cosmetic scruffs or hairlines, which had no effect on the playback what so ever.

Also included is the original RealTime "Sound Off!" survey card that came packaged with the LP. Most of these cards were either mailed in or thrown out.

Intelligent collectors will rcognize the value of this LP, and seek to add it to their personal collection. I have had problems recently with "non-paying bidders" on some of my other auctions. Because of this, I have set a higher than usual, but not excessive, starting bid on this auction, to insure that only legitimate bidders will participate. It may be quite some time before another copy this nice and at this low price comes up for auction, so do not hesitate, bid now.  BID WITH CONFIDENCE...I DO NOT SELL JUNK!  PLEASE SEE MY  "FEEDBACK AS A SELLER"  FOR BUYER COMMENTS.

DELIVERY TIME INFORMATION...PLEASE READ

Some buyers have complained about slow delivery of their items. I normally use the least expensive service, Media Mail, to save you money, but it is SLOW! I am not a record dealer, I am a music collector who works 40 plus hours a week at my "real job". I only have 1 day a week to securely package your items and deliver them to the post office. Depending on when my auctions end, it may be up to 6 days before I am able to drive to the post office. The USPS says Media Mail will USUALLY be delivered in 3 to 7 days...( Yeah, and if pigs had wings they could fly! ). The ACTUAL DELIVERY TIME may be as long as 25 to 30 days.

If you demand "instant gratification" and 1 week delivery, you have two choices: 1. Pay the acyual extra USPS charges and I will be glad to ship by Priority or Express mail; or, 2. Buy the SAME ITEM from an eBay store ( and pay a LOT MORE MONEY for it ). I'm not trying to chase buyers away, but I would rather lose a few than have some impatient twit leave me negative comments about slow delivery time. I do not control delivery time after I leave it at the post office.

3. Winners must pay for item within the time specified in the auction. If you do not pay when due, I will file a NON-PAYING MEMBER COMPLAINT against you, you will be PERMAMENTLY BARRED from my auctions, you will be investigated by eBay and/or PayPal, you will be issued a STRIKE against your account, and you may be subject to additional disciplinary actions.

4. Local pickup is NOT available, unless it is stated in the auction guidelines.

PAYMENT

Payment must be made through PayPal only, NO EXCEPTIONS, and must be received WITHIN THREE DAYS FROM END OF AUCTION. Item will normally be shipped within five BUSINESS DAYS of receipt of cleared funds by seller's bank. If you do not agree with this, DO NOT BID.

While I do my best to securely package each item, I am not responsible for items that are lost, damaged or delayed in transit. Also I am not responsible if the item is damaged or broken by you, your friends or family members, your pet dog/cat/bird/weasel or any other animal mistaking it for food, or by any act of nature.
