THIS AUCTION -  is for the legendary DECCA SXL-2313 Stereo LP of Ferdinand Herold's La Fille Mal Gardee.   This was recorded in 1962 in Covent Garden, London with John Lanchbery conducting the Orchestra Of The Royal Opera House.  Often compared to Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony for its rustic freshness and simplicity, Frederick Ashton and John Lanchbery began with Herold's version and arrived at this arrangement for the famous and beloved ballet, first performed in London on January 28, 1960.

BACKGROUND - The highly respected "Golden Ear" Harry Pearson, founder of The Absolute Sound (TAS) audiophile magazine has rated this LP among "The Best of the Bunch - Classical" on his Super LP list - you can review the TAS list at: http://www.avguide.com/film_music/music/hp_superlist_lp.jsp.  Only 11 other LPs have received that distinction, and when you give this a listen you will understand why.  The sonics are outstanding.  All the instruments are clear and in balance with incredible imaging.  The dynamic range is superb.  Instrument timbres are accurate, decays are precise.  If you want the sound of a live orchestra in your listening room, there are only one dozen LPs that can deliver and this in my opinion is contender for the top throne of the very best of those.  You won't see this one for sale very often...who would want to get rid of it?  The music is totally enjoyable and the perfomance is engulfing.  Ah, but I am lucky enough to have had a second copy, so now it can be yours.

CONDITION - The vinyl, original inner sleeve, and album cover are all Near Mint...no scratches or scuffs and it plays well all the way through.  You can be 100% confident that the only cleaner copy you will find will be one in still sealed condition.

PRICING - The reserve is set at $125 to protect my investment; the reason I choose to share the reserve amount with you is so you can plan your bidding strategy accordingly.  The Buy It Now price is set at what I've seen this album in this condition sell for.  If you've been looking for this LP for a long time, know how hard it is to find let alone in this condition, and have to have it, you will know this is a high but reasonable value for both of us.  I like the Buy It Now option because it means you don't have to wait for 5 days till the auction's over and risk losing it to another sniper.  Besides, you can finally stop looking and start listening.  The Buy It Now price will disappear once the Reserve is met.  You want me to end the auction early?  Just use Buy It Now and your dreams come true.  There is absolutely no way you could be disappointed with this purchase and having this in your collection to listen to.

PACKAGING - Because I care about the condition this LP arrives to the winner in, it will be packaged to withstand all manners of weapons of mass destruction and tsunamis.  The vinyl is removed from the sleeve and wrapped in bubblewrap; the empty inner sleeve is placed inside the album cover and that sub-assembly is placed in a protective vinyl sleeve and then wrapped in bubble wrap.  Then the vinyl and cover sub-assembly are sandwiched between protective cardboard and shipped in a sturdy carton packed with wadded newspaper to absorb bumps and shocks.  If there is anything special you want in the way of shipping, packing, etc. just please ask before the end of the auction and we'll reach agreement.  You are my customer and I will do as you please (within the law and within the limits of common sense). 

SHIPPING - I will ship worldwide and postage will be for only the exact amount...no additional charges for packing materials and no additional handling fees.  I will ship FedEx or UPS if you want to spend that much extra; some like me to use their account numbers and I will do so if you provide it to me via email.  Insurance is highly recommended, but if you want to chance it for a couple of bucks that's your life-lesson to learn.  Insurance won't replace your lost or damaged album, but it will allow you to have the funds to try and find another one.  Overseas buyers, please contact me with your desired method of shipment if you want a direct price quotation.  And yes, I will combine shipping on multiple items to help save you money as it also helps me save time in packing and at the post office.
