TASTE (Rory Gallagher) 'TASTE' DEBUT ALBUM

1st UK Pressing Polydor Labels Cat No. 583 042

 1969 ((stereo))

Earliest A#1 B#1 Matrix Endings! Awesome Near Mint Audio! 1st issue Fully Laminated MacNeil Press cover in exceptional condition for an amaizing 43 years old!!

Another from my opersonal collection. Purchased from new in 1970, and originally only ever played to record to tape, (although this looks barely ever played in my opinion) then stored in a case with the vinyl removed from the record sleeve and cover for protection. This is how I have always stored my records! This album has been preserved in this awesome condition for over 40 years, This first album by the awesom band 'Taste' is probably one of my all time favourite blues albums ever. The audio is absolutely awesome throughout, barely ever played copy,, unbeleivable to find , becoming very collectable and sought after especially in this condition!

Taste was the debut album by the Irish rock band of the same name, released in 1969!

Taste was an Irish rock and blues band formed in 1966 and gained fame in large part, because of their unique style, and the talent and charisma of the band's founder, songwriter and musician Rory Gallagher!!.

The band, a power trio, also moved on to make history as one of the first three acts to perform on the televised studio program, Rockpalast, in Germany!.

Taste (originally "The Taste") was formed in Cork, Ireland in August 1966 as a trio consisting of Rory Gallagher on guitars and vocals, Eric Kitteringham on bass, and Norman Damery on drums. In their early years Taste toured in Hamburg and Ireland before becoming regulars at Maritime Hotel, an R&B club in Belfast, Northern Ireland. In 1968 Taste began performing in the UK where the original lineup split up.

The new lineup formed with Richard McCracken on bass and John Wilson on drums. The new Taste moved permanently to London where they signed with the record label Polydor. While with Polydor, Taste began touring the United States and Canada with the British supergroup Blind Faith!!.

In April 1969, Taste released the first of their two studio albums, the self-titled Taste, with On the Boards following in early 1970, the latter showing the band's jazz influences with Gallagher playing saxophone on numerous tracks. In November that year, the band, along with Yes, opened for Cream at Cream's farewell concerts!.

One performance came in 1970 as part of the Isle of Wight Festival, alongside Jimi Hendrix and The Who. Later the same year Taste toured Europe but were disbanded by Gallagher, who decided to pursue a solo career, performing their last show on New Year's Eve in Belfast!.

Wilson and McCracken immediately formed 'Stud' in early 1971, with Jim Cregan and John Weider. Some years after the band's break up, earlier recordings featuring the original line-up emerged. A musical homage to Taste and Gallagher was by Black 47 in their song "Rory", released on 1998's Green Suede Shoes album!!.

The vinyl

The 1st thing to note! is that this is the thicker original type of vinyl! Later press are much more flimsier and less robust! The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable! and looks absolutely stunning!!

On initial inspection this looks almost as new! It is hard for me to see any marks at all! In fact it is hard to see any indications that this has even been played at all! Perhapes a handfull of times by me personaly only! This has been stored in a case for the best part of 30 years! Any marks that could possibly be seen under a strong light would be very light whyspy sleeve removal marks only!!

The Audio Quality

I have played the vinyl two times at very loud volume prior to listing at very loud volume on a top system. The audio is absolutely stunning throughout! This album always blows me away , it rocks all the way through very rich and stunningly vibrant! This plays with (no) loud clicks pops or any grooveware what so ever any static that may be heard in isolated places is every very minimal and this could do with constantly cleaning before each play,, which would reduce this!! I would grade the audio at least excellent plus to verty near perfect on my systems! Trully stunning rich clear and vibrant bassey feel ,only heard like this on 1st pressings, in my opinion!

please note! I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for the isolated light static crackle\static tick here and there (not) consistant throughout the audio! This is a genuine 43 year old vinyl that would have originally been played on a 43 year old system!!

This vinyl has been stored in a case for the best part of 25 years and could benefit from a constant clean before each play! This would greatly reduce any static crackle and greatly enhance the audio quality!!!

The Labels

Original Polydor labels. Amaizsingly I can't see any spidering at all on both sides in fact it is hard to see if this has been played at all!. Very rare to find like this!

The record Sleeve

This is the original white poly lined record sleeve with patent no. and 'Made in England' no splits or tares light staining creasing with age only, original!!

The Cover

This is the original 1st issue, textured MacNeil Press printed cover, (Fully- laminated) ! In exceptional,, Top condition for a 1st press (NO) real main storageware to mention! There is some light laminate lifting to mention on the front and rear at spine end (see photos) Amaizingly  No real signs of ringware. The corners are lovely and sharp Amaizingly (no) real main creases in the cover worth to mention, just light minor laminate creases only. SUPERBE 1ST PRESS COVER!!AT LEAST EXCELLENT  TO EXCELLENT PLUS in my opinion!!
