Description

TCHAIKOVSKY / CURZON / SOLTI / V.P.O. - " PIANO CONCERTO NO.1 ", The Decca Record Company Ltd (SXL 2114) Stereo, 1959.

Very rare, 1959, English 1st pressing Decca LP with the "ORIGINAL RECORDING BY" label text on a wideband, grooved label and front laminated sleeve.

Pressed in England.

Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and then put in a fresh new poly-lined inner sleeve (the original inner sleeve has also been retained and included in the auction - see photo).



CONDITION:

VINYL =  EX-  (No deep scratches, no groove damage, no distortion, only the lightest spindle trails, etc. Under a bright grading lamp I can make out some paper scuffs and a few light surface marks - although these are purely visual and during playback, these very slight cosmetic flaws don't correspond directly to any audible defects.
However despite it's slightly less than perfect cosmetic appearance, it plays surprisingly well. Apart from from some faint surface noise during the silent run-in at the start of the record, it plays strong and clear, without interuptions from clicks, clunks or excessive surface noise, etc. Not quite a perfect copy perhaps, but a good honest playable example with plenty of life left in it's grooves.

Note: for the purposes of this listing I have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable - generally this is quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay!!!)


SLEEVE = V.G.- (No big tears, heavy creases or defacing, etc. But has had the edges taped in the past which has left residue and staining, also some quite bad delamination around the edges and the top flipback has two small tears - see photos for further clarification)
