Description

TCHAIKOVSKY / CURZON / SOLTI / VIENNA PHILHARMONI ORCHESTRA - " PIANO CONCERTO NO.1 ", The Decca Record Company Ltd (SXL 2114) Stereo, 1959.

Very rare, 1959, English 1st issue/pressing Decca LP with the "ORIGINAL RECORDING BY" label text and front laminated flipback sleeve.

Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and then put in a fresh new poly-lined inner sleeve (the original inner sleeve has also been retained and included in the auction - see photo).



CONDITION:

VINYL =  EXCELLENT  (No proper scratches, no groove damage, no distortion, only the lightest spindle trails, etc. In normal daylight the vinyl appears perfectly clean, under a bright grading lamp I can make out a couple of very light paper scuffs - although these are purely visual and during playback, these very slight cosmetic flaws don't correspond directly to any audible defects.
On playback, there is some faint surface noise during the silent run-in (in the pressing) which disappears as soon as the music starts. It plays really well - strong, clean and without interuptions.

Note: for the purposes of this listing I have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable - generally this is quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay!!!)


SLEEVE = EX- (No rips, tears, defacing, etc. Still flat and fairly clean with a few thumb creases in the laminate which has yellowed slightly and some general wear to the edges and corners - see photos for further clarification)
