Musically and sonically it’s a treasure you’ll come back to repeatedly. No CD, including Classic’s of this same recording, will get you close to what this LP delivers.

Out of print Classic records reissue of an incredible audiophile rarity. QUIEX SV-P 200 Gram record was cut directly from the original 35mm magnetic film using an all-tube cutting system for maximum quality. 35mm sound has a textural richness that is more realistic than any other tape format.

Highly collectable release from audiophile label, Classic Records. This title was mastered by Classic Records at Half Speed from the original source master tapes. An all-analog, tube amplification process was used at every step. Classic Records used a proprietary vinyl that guaranteed virtually no surface noise and sonically superior dynamics.

Review: Sir Malcolm Sargent conducts the London Symphony at Walthamstow Town Hall, London in a beautifully colorful interpretation of Tchaikovsky's infamous 5th Symphony. The Fifth Symphony was at first considered a failure by the composer after its first few performances were poorly received. Further performances proved to the composer and the critics that, in fact, this great Symphony was worthy of further consideration and ultimately widespread acceptance. Orchestras around the world now perform Tchaikovsky's 5th Symphony routinely to the thrill of their audiences.

This Bert Whyte Everest recording in 1959 directly onto 3 channels of 35MM magnetic tape captures all the dynamic nuance of Tchaikovsky's multi-layed orchestration in a way most other conventional recordings are incapable of doing. The original edited 3 track 35MM master tapes were used for this historic project of remastering for the Classic Everest 35MM LP and HDAD Series. Using a specially modified Ampex 1551, with Len Horowitz running the tape machine, Bernie Grundman does the honors of transferring to lacquer these 45+ year old gems of recorded history. For the first time ever LP lovers can hear what was captured onto those tracks all those years ago in amazing fidelity and with a Presence that is lost in most recordings. Highly recommended.

The Everest recordings are legendary, but at the time, were not given the treatment they deserved, suffering from mediocre pressings and cutting that really did not do the recordings justice. The original recording films were rediscovered, abandoned and forgotten, several years ago (by fluke) in a California warehouse, after being assumed lost for several decades. Remarkably, they are for the most in excellent condition, and now Classic are reissuing them on vinyl, courtesy of Bernie Grundman's superb analog/tube setup and special equipment brought in and refurbished to master from 35mm film stock.
