TEMPEST s/t LP
Bronze Records ILPS 9220
released 1973
with Jon Hiseman (Colosseum) and Allan Holdsworth.
This record is in great shape considering its age and genre. The vinyl would grade NM easily, it looks as though it was never played, crazy but true. The vinyl plays excellent, clean, no background noise, even between songs. There are machine stamped matrix numbers. The original UK BRONZE labels are very clean, minty, with no spindle marks, no writing or wear either. The original half gatefold (half page flip top cover, with inner record pocket) grades VG+, and has some edge, and corner wear and light creasing. There is the start of a split seam on the left edge not quite broken through yet. It also comes with the original blue printed inner sleeve in excellent shape, has some fading on the edges.
* Gorgon (Hiseman/Clarke/Holdsworth)
* Foyers Of Fun (Hiseman/Clarke/Holdsworth)
* Dark House (Hiseman/Clarke/Holdsworth)
* Brothers (Hiseman/Holdsworth)
* Up And On (Edwards/Holdsworth)
* Grey And Black (Clarke/Bottomley)
* Strangeher (Hiseman/Clarke)
* Upon Tomorrow (Clempson/Hiseman)
Formed by the drummer Jon Hiseman in 1974 after the break up of COLOSSEUM, TEMPEST (no relation to the US band of same name) are most notable for their awesome line up. Hiseman brought in an, at the time, very young guitarist by the name of Allan Holdsworth, also with Mark Clark (bass) and Paul Williams (vocals) completing the band. Clark had also been a member of COLOSSEUM. Paul Williams had played with JOHN MAYALL'S BLUESBREAKERS and JUICY LUCY. TEMPEST released two albums with Peter "Ollie" Halsall (PATTO, SCAFFOLD) replacing Holdsworth for "Living in Fear", and taking on keyboard duties for that album too. He replaced the departed Williams on vocals, thus resulting in a completely different sound for that album. Their music is more jazz rock than fusion, and Hiseman's COLOSSEUM influences can be heard in the jazz influences in both albums.
We try hard to grade these kind$ of record$ conservatively, for the extra discerning customer. Check our feedback!!!!
