Description

TERRY DURHAM - CRYSTAL TELEPHONE

Long deleted, highly desirable and overall great condition 1969 UK 1st press under the radar acid folk gem

Year/Label : 1969 UK DERAM Label number : SML 1042 Matrix numbers : ZAL-8881.P-1W, ZAL-8882.P-2W Stampers :  1 G  /  1G
Excellent plus (EX+) condition vinyl (many would grade as "near mint", I am sure) - completely flat, weighty and retaining a beautiful jet black lacquered sheen, coming across as unmarked in normal daylight and even with close inspection under a bright light difficult to find any blemishes at all...perhaps just a couple of small and extremely faint and wispy paper scuffs - nothing really.  The labels are in excellent (EX) condition also - just a couple of very small and extremely faint rogue spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each label, and on the side 2 label if you hold the record at the right angle and in the right light a faint mark where a sticker once resided can just about be identified. Clearly this is a record that has been only very sparingly played.  Very good plus (VG+) condition front-side laminated (front & back) James Upton outer sleeve with firm and largely unscuffed top and bottom edges - just a 5mm small scuff on the top edge, a firm spine with all spine text intact and just a little intermittent browning along with a couple of tiny "nicks" one of which is between the "C" and "R" in "CRYSTAL". Each corner remains a nicely defined right angle with barely any rubbing, the opening sides are firm with no fraying and there is no unwanted writing. There are just a few very small laminate creases/lifts towards the top, bottom and spine edges, the hint of some very minor ring wear on the reverse side, and a couple of small storage/handling marks on the reverse side - each very minor. Still highly presentable with all colours, art work, text, and photos remaining impressively intact.  Superb, excellent plus (EX+) sound quality with no sticks, skips, repeats, clicks, distortion or background crackle - wonderful tone and crystal clear stereo reproduction with brilliant hard-to-fault sound quality throughout. Terry Durham - such a talented artist and this LP certainly falls into the category of "under the radar"! The all-important insert with a photo of Terry Durham on one side and a biography on the other is also in excellent plus (EX) condition - near perfect in fact. Comes with original blue and white DERAM poly-lined inner sleeve with no splits or age discolouration, just a little very minor creasing.  Note that I always ship the vinyl in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original.    Underrated, under the radar, hard-to-find, and most defintely highly desirable - a brilliant addition to any serious 60's vinyl collection.
POSTAGE COSTS :

For the UK £4 using Royal Mail tracked 48;

for continental Europe £11 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for,

and for the rest of the world £17 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for.

I do provide posting and packaging discounts for multiple purchases. I make no profit from postage.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.

A bit about myself : I have been collecting UK vinyl for over 54 years from a variety of sources : my own collection, friends and family, car boot and garage sales, door-to-door leaflets, and even through placing an advert in my wife's shop window! My ebay feedback speaks for itself so rest assured that you are buying from a trusted seller and in the very unlikely event that you are unhappy with your purchase just e-mail me and I will sort out the problem. I offer a "no questions asked" refund policy.
