Description
ONEADAYRECORDS – Simply Delivering Quality Music to the World.
Postage: UK £3.25. Europe (including Russia) £9. Rest of World £12. ALL signed for in quality, safe packaging – I NEVER use mailing envelopes.
PLEASE NOTE: Overseas packets that go through the customs system, can take up to 4 to 6 weeks to process and deliver, this IS normal. For Russia, this can take even longer and is out of my control, so please be patient.
ALSO: I now apply the Ebay ‘4-day’ rule for non-payment. I try to keep my P&P prices as low as possible even yet another Royal Mail price hike, I will never compromise on solid, safe packing that is invariably a little heavier.
Artist: TERRY REID [is SUPERLUNGS]
Single Title: Superlungs – this being the rare one-sided demo. The B-side is grooved but has NO music, only ‘white’ noise as a high-pitched tone.
Producer(s): Mickie Most.
Label/Format: Columbia – very rare white label demo. The other side is plain black.
Label Conditions: Very clean, fresh with any spindle marks tiny and faint, barely any in fact. An identification sticker was applied, possibly by a DJ from the distant past and almost certainly played little.
Cat Number: PSRS 323.
Speed: 45 rpm.
Warps: Assume all records I offer have no warping of any significance and all tracking is easy and effortless and should play on all turntables and even ‘budget’ decks.
Country of Manufacture: England.
Rarity: Very rare: a real opportunity for singles collectors, this is seldom seen or offered.
Original Year of Release: 1969
Matrix Nos: PSRS 323 A 1 (no matrixes on side two as it contains no music)
Mother / Stamper: 1 G
Brief Info: I do not offer singles often, but when I do I like to think they are a little bit special – and here is another rare item for the collector. A white label demo in a plain white cover, a few light surface marks but with no sound and this has fantastic clean audio quality. Reid had been pencilled in as the vocalist for Led Zeppelin, but was unavailable as he was touring with Cream – and as they say – the rest is history. He has played with various high grade acts and is a quality session musician and songwriter. This song was written by Donovan and was a demo for the album ‘Superlungs’.
The Cover: A plain white unlined paper sleeve looks almost as made.
Vinyl Condition/Visual Grading: EXCELLENT(–): arguably better. A very fine visual copy that is very clean with fine shine. A copy with minimal plays on all the evidence but with a few light surface trace marks that has no sound. There are NO penetrating scratches. This combined with very low usage means the sound quality is very high and enjoyable. Visually a super demo record that has survived the Dansette era well, it should please many, if not most collectors. With so few even in existence, this will rarely be even seen, let alone a great deal better.
Album Played For Grading: Yes. [I play ALL records I offer before submitting to Ebay, also the record is played in its entirety unless clearly stated otherwise. I do NOT play snippets or joining grooves to check for sound quality and quietness – I play from the beginning to end via clinically revealing B&W speakers that include the legendary tweeter from their awesome Nautilus range that reveals every blemish or minuscule sound present on any record.]
Sound Quality and Audio Grading: This lovely rare 45 plays even above it’s high visual grading with very little to fault. Strong, distortion-free sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear - sound quality is very high with a wide dynamic range and very detailed sound. Any surface sounds are minimal indeed and no pops or clicks were noted and this is an exceptional clean pressing. So many of these types ruined by heavy plays on very heavy tracking old record players – often the sound goes with just a tiny few plays, especially if the stylus was chipped or worn. Few copies will outperform this rare demo significantly I feel sure. Both channels are clean and sharp, I am certain this record has been played hardly at all and nothing spoilt my pleasure when playing it. This copy will prove very difficult to find significantly better and can be strongly recommended.
