Description

This is a fine original UK stereo LP copy of the highly rated and near impossible to find 'Fall Out' by Terry Smith on the Philips label from 1969 (SBL 7871). Fall Out is the debut album by this Scott Walker-discovered guitarist who was soon to find success with Island's highly rated progressive jazz-rock band If. Smith's elusive debut album was recorded on the suggestion of Walker, who was so impressed with his 25-year-old prodigy's talent that he also elected to produce it. If you are unfamiliar with this album here is what Tapestry of Delights has to say: 'Smith recorded this superb piece of jazz-rock shortly before joining If in 1969. Produced by Scott Walker, in whose band Smith had toured (in Japan), it's almost impossible to find nowadays'. You won't have much difficulty sourcing a copy of this revered guitarist's LP on reissue vinyl today but here is a rare chance to acquire the album in its original form. This lovely well cared for first pressing record is in solid VG- condition (UK Record Collector grading) with just a couple of the lightest non-feelable non-sounding hairline marks. You can see from the original black and silver Philips labels in my photos that this album has enjoyed little play, and it performs as well as it looks, brilliantly, with clarity and precision. The fully laminated first pressing single sleeve is also a comfortable VG, in strong well looked after condition with no creasing, tears or unwanted writing and fine, sharp opening edges, just a little rubbing on the corners and a little loose laminate (less than an inch) along the centre of the spine (there's nothing missing and it could easily be glued back in place).
