Original 1969 7” vinyl made in India on the Amha label The pressing was very good. The A side is Mote Adeladayou and the B side is The famous jazz instrumental Yekermo Saw. The A side is sung in Amharic, the language most widely spoken in Ethiopia. TESHOME METEKU and MULATU ASTATKE are just two of many artists that released records during the Golden Years of vinyl in Ethiopia. Many artists were showcased on Ethiopian television on the variety show. This single was released in 1969. , five years before Emperor HAILIE SELASSIE (Ras Tafari Makonnen) was overthrown by the Derg in 1974. The crackdown on music releases began after he was deposed. Further information about Ethiopian jazz, folk and ballads is available on the internet and discogs site. This is quite RARELY available and is an original 7” vinyl single from 1969. The vinyl plays all the way through without jumping. It does have scratches which you can see when you hold it up to the light. The vinyl is not worn down that much like many Ethiopian vinyls from that era, so it still plays fairly well, but I’ve given it a grading of Fair to be safe as it has been played a lot and there is a fair amount of crackling but it doesn’t jump or stick. The vocal is very strongly audible on the A sides as the original recording was very clear. The labels are good with no handwriting or stickers. It comes in a plain white new sleeve as the original sleeve is long gone. I do have some other Ethiopian vinyls to list on the Amha and Phillips labels to list of similar quality and less so. This vinyl has a value of between £35 to £287 according to discogs website. That obviously depends on the condition, scarcity and availability. Currently none are available for sale on discogs. Please note the condition of this 53 year old record before you bid. It has been cleaned but if it was professionally cleaned, the sound would benefit more.
