Description
DOMESTIC $ 5 PLUS $ 1 INTERNATIONAL $ 21 PLUS $ 7 Thatcher was a rather short-lived heavy metal band out of Orlando, Florida which was probably best known for a few of its alumni. Rick Rozz (aka Frederick DeLillo) who go on to play with Mantas/Death . Bob Rossi a guitarist who would play on a few of metal vocalist Rob Rock's efforts.
THATCHER played old school US power metal and metal like Rush or Judas Priest. Most tracks are basically straight forward, archaic traditional /speed metal, starting with "Speed Demon", which sounds a lot like an older Priest song. "Robbed of my Childhood" is possibly the best song on this EP, as Rawling's uses a higher pitched vocal akin to Bruce Dickinson to set a grim, psychotic feel over the bluesy rhythms. "Witch's Sin" is likewise anothere classic NWOBHM material with shuffling guitars patterned out in fuzzy triplets and an almost Queen-like vibe to the backing vocals.
Rawlings vocals shows hints of skill here with his raw and old school vibe of the material. Expect a record similar to any Judas Priest or Iron Maiden record from the late 70s through about 1984. There's not much of a market out there to compare it too. The name Thatcher is guaranteed to cause a spark with metal collectors. This 1000 copies EP is simply a masterpiece of 80s US Metal with a difference. The band in a interview sited their influences as Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Scorpions, Raven, Accept, Krokus, Ozzy, Black Sabbath, Dio, Rainbow.
